At NAAIM, we believe passionately in the benefits of ACTIVE investment management. Without an active component to an investment strategy, client portfolios have no protection from major market declines when asset classes fall across the board. The only way to avoid losses with passive allocation, is to also forgo the opportunity equities offer in good markets. Active management is a tool to control risk and to provide a portfolio with the potential to profit from up markets.
To help advisory firms transition to active management, NAAIM is offering a special two-hour introduction to incorporating active management in an advisory practice at our annual Trading Techniques CRAM (Cultivating Relationships Among Managers) session this November in Chicago.
NAAIM past president and long-time member Will Hepburn, President of Hepburn Capital Management, LLC of Prescott, Arizona conducts two Tuesday morning sessions prior to the main agenda designed to provide advisers with an orientation to active management :
10 a.m. | Integrating Active Management into a Practice – | A discussion of simple technical analysis tools that can be applied within a practice to begin to manage actively. |
11 a.m. | Developing a Trading System | A checklist of the good, bad and complicating factors within trading systems, including how to decide. |
